Happy 2020

Happy and 2020 haven't been going together recently with COVID, murder hornets, and protests. Even though it's been a tough start to the year, we have been planting and weeding, then planting and weeding some more down at the farm. We have been so busy the website/blog has been on the back burner.

Trees were cleared over the winter to increase our growing area. Catlin and Natalie purchased two greenhouses. We have only had time to set one up but we were able to get tomatoes and peppers planted early because of it.

We try our best to start all of our plants from seed. There have been times we have had to supplement seedlings because of frost or pest damage. This year was bad on both of those accounts. We lost our first round of eggplant and cucumbers to a late frost. We then planted our round two of eggplant and lost a majority of those to pests. With the mild winter we had we are expecting to have bad pest damage this season.

New vegetables we have tried this year are - lettuce mix, spinach, burdock, onion, shallots, garlic, sweet potatoes, eggplant and painted dry corn.We also added a flock of 16 chickens to the farm. We are excited to have fresh eggs to go with all our fresh vegetables.
